Nubian Religion

The ancient Nubians shared practically all of the same beliefs as the ancient Egyptians themselves, which included worshiping the same gods, and even treating life as one big preparation for the Afterlife.

One thing which all ancient Egyptians and Nubians wanted and needed was a copy of the Book of the Dead, which would guide them through the tests and perils of the Afterlife and help them secure their place in it.  (More about it can be read here.  A complete translation of the Book of the Dead can be found here.  An overview of Egyptian beliefs which the Nubians also used can be found here.)

As Christianity rose, it had a small place of its own in Nubian lands.  However, with the onslaught of the Arabs, most of Nubia today (which is mostly present-day Sudan) is now under Islamic influence.
